Our heavy duty mantis are made from a seamless 7' x 9' piece of 18 oz. canvas with hemmed edges to prevent fraying and wear. These are built heavier than a standard mantis (10-14 oz) to hold up to the rigors of the trail while protecting your gear. They are also great for securing a bundled load, top load, or for covering your saddles and miscellaneous gear in the backcountry. By adding grommets ($1.00 each) they can also be used as a lean-to for shade or protection from the elements.
